TORONTO, ON & CAMBRIDGE, MA-Toronto’s St. Michael’s Hospital has been added by InVivo Therapeutics as a clinical site for its INSPIRE Study.
The study is looking into the benefits of the company’s Neuro-Spinal Scaffold™ for safety and neurologic recovery in subjects with complete thoracic AIS, or spinal cord injury.
The St. Michael’s Hospital is InVivo’s second site in Toronto and sees over 70,000 emergency visits annually.
According to Dr. Howard Ginsberg, assistant professor in the Department of Surgery and the Institute of Biomaterials and Biomedical Engineering, and principal investigator at the new study site, the study’s focus will include engineering applications to neurosurgical procedures that improve both safety and outcomes for patients.
“The INSPIRE study holds much promise for this large unmet medical need and I look forward to participating,” he said.
With the new study site confirmed, there are now 28 clinical sites participating, including Canadian sites in Calgary’s Foothills Medical Centre and Toronto Western Hospital.
